Most people do not realize Florida holds the top four spots when reviewing the most dangerous areas for pedestrians. In fact, Tampa Bay is the second most dangerous region for pedestrians in the nation. Equally disturbing is the fact that Florida ranks third in the nation for the total number of motorcycle fatalities.

Minimizing the risk for pedestrian injury:

Tampa Bay pedestrians need to make sure to only cross at crosswalks and within the right of way. Tampa drivers also always need be vigilant when watching for pedestrians.

Minimizing the risk for Tampa motorcyclist injury:

Motorcycle riders must always be on the lookout for potential hazards on Tampa roads, and wear appropriate safety gear like a helmet. A helmet is important because more than two-thirds of all motorcycle related fatalities occur when a motorcycle rider chooses to forego protective head gear. Tampa drivers need to watch for motorcyclists, be aware of their surroundings and check blind spots when changing lanes.
